This client is a professional enterprise that places strong emphasis on both industrial safety and employee wearing comfort. With a procurement demand of approximately 800 uniform sets, the client initially faced a difficult material-selection dilemma. In work environments with fire hazards, employees strongly preferred the breathability and comfort of pure cotton, yet ordinary cotton fabric ignites easily and poses serious workplace safety risks. By contrast, the polyester protective garments commonly found on the market are hot and poorly ventilated, and under high temperatures may even melt and adhere to the skin, causing more severe secondary injuries. In addition, the client lacked dedicated in-house apparel design resources and urgently needed a supply-chain partner that could solve the pain point at the fabric level while coordinating the overall uniform design.
To break the stereotype that protective clothing must be uncomfortable, the Hermin team did not pursue extreme yet rigid specialty chemical fibers. Instead, we introduced the right solution for the client: flame-retardant cotton (FR Cotton). The development goal of this fabric was simple—to make it feel no different from ordinary cotton apparel when worn. We preserved cotton's naturally skin-friendly touch and excellent moisture absorption and sweat-wicking properties, thoroughly eliminating the stuffy discomfort frontline workers experience after physical labor. At the same time, the fabric underwent a rigorous flame-retardant finishing process and successfully passed Japan's JIS LOI (Limiting Oxygen Index) test. It may not be the most extreme flame-resistant specialty gear on the market, but it can effectively inhibit burning when exposed to a flame and avoids high-temperature melt-drip behavior, delivering the most practical safety balance between comfort and protection for everyday operations.
With the flexibility to apply this flame-retardant technology to both woven and knit constructions, Hermin's design team built a complete uniform system from the ground up for the client. We handled everything from early-stage visual proposals to pattern development, and applied this comfortable flame-retardant fabric across lightweight sweat-absorbing knit T-shirts, durable structured work pants, and sharp protective jackets. For this 800-set order, Hermin delivered through standardized one-stop production and strict quality inspection, helping the company create everyday workwear that employees can truly wear comfortably—and wear safely.
